The Mustangs' streak of 16 consecutive district titles was snapped by Dawson last year, but in grand style with a perfect score of 15, Friendswood took back the 24-4A crown last week at Centennial Park.
"It's the first time we finished 1-6 at district," Friendswood coach Steve Haffelder said. "We've gone 1-5 one other time, but this was a first, and even though we never really talked about it, I think they took (finishing second a year ago) personally."
