For this installment of 'Stang Diary we check in with 2011 FHS grad and current freshman basketball player at Millsaps College (MS), Kevin Wilson.
"We kicked off our season with a midnight practice here at Millsaps and we have been going ever since. Practice is pretty demanding but I am getting a lot better. The pace of the game is definitely faster and it will take a little bit to get used to, but I'm getting there. It has been a lot of fun but I am still working to make sure I get a spot on the travel team. Looking back we were way too easy on the younger guys, here they will get on to you for anything. It is a good push though.
The school work is intense. I have yet to pull an all-nighter but I have stayed up till 5 a couple of times trying to finish a paper or study for a test. I got my midterm grades back and I'm at about a 3.2 but I plan on doing better than that the rest of the semester. I am studying math pre-engineering. My classes are hard but manageable. I would not be where I am today if it was not for Mrs. Westerfeld, thank you.
I joined a fraternity, Kappa Alpha, and so far it has been fun. It takes a lot of time but I think it will be worth it. College is a crazy and fun but time management is a big part of being successful."
